Our Story
"Why" a kid walked miles
Growing up, I was always drawn to gadgets, but as a kid from a simple middle-class family, affording them was a luxury. Walking to school was more than just a daily routine; it was my way of saving up every precious coin to buy the latest tech. And when I finally scraped together enough to get my hands on my very first PlayStation One, the happiness I felt playing Tekken 3 on that screen is something I'll never forget.
"How" it became a part of me
Over the years, I kept saving and building up my collection of gadgets. To me, these weren't just pieces of tech—they symbolized hard work and determination, each one with its own story close to my heart. Then, after college, I started working at an old age home. Seeing the elderly residents and their cherished possessions made me realize something profound: these weren't just things; they were full of memories, motivation, and love. Each small item—a pen, a stick, a scarf, a watch—held a vivid story, motivating them to keep going. For me, my gadgets carried stories that motivated me through tough times. Even if some of them stopped working, I couldn't just throw them away because of the stories they held.
"What" is TeardownArts
I wanted to create something that would preserve these memories, something that would stay with me on my journey and the remind me the stories behind each device. I wanted to create something that would immortalize these memories, something tangible that I could hang on my wall as a reminder of how far I'd come and everything I'd accomplished. And so, TeardownArts was born. Through TeardownArts, I aim to transform forgotten devices into cherished mementos, preserving memories one piece at a time. It's not just about the gadgets; it's about the journey, the memories, and the emotions they evoke.
